[ARCHIVED] Charleston Police Investigating West Ashley Homicide

The Charleston Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday evening inside a residence on Hollywood Drive in West Ashley.

Shortly before 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a deceased individual inside the home with an apparent gunshot wound.

At this stage of the investigation, detectives believe the victim was targeted by someone they knew. There is no indication that this was a random act of violence.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name when appropriate.

Detectives are working diligently to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
