The Charleston Police Department has made an arrest for a series of car break-ins and motor vehicle thefts in West Ashley.
On August 9, 2024, at approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to a report of several car break-ins in the Bolton’s Landing neighborhood. The suspect attempted to flee from officers, however he was eventually captured later that morning, coming out of the woods on Bees Ferry Road. During his arrest, officers located a handgun in his possession that was stolen in one of the previously reported car break-ins.
Detectives later learned that the same suspect was responsible for multiple property crimes that occurred in the Satori Way Apartments hours before the Bolton’s Landing thefts.
Jalen Stuckey (18, of Charleston) is charged with resisting arrest, possession of a stolen handgun, seven counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, and three counts of grand larceny. He is currently in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
We would like to thank the vigilant neighbors who reported suspicious activity immediately and provided camera footage to our officers. The series of thefts serves as a reminder that vehicles are not secure storage spaces for valuables, especially firearms. Please lock your doors, look out for your neighbors and report suspicious activity.
