The Charleston Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred at an apartment complex located at 676 King Street in downtown Charleston.
On June 30, 2025, at around 7:45 p.m., officers responded to the complex for a report of an unresponsive resident. Upon arrival, they discovered a deceased individual who appeared to be the victim of a violent assault.
Following an investigation, detectives arrested Barry Jerod Stanley, 41, of Charleston. Stanley, an acquaintance of the victim, has been charged with murder and is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center. The victim’s name will be released by the coroner’s office.
