The Charleston Police Department arrested a suspect within minutes of being dispatched to an armed robbery on King Street.
On October 8, 2024, at 11:29 a.m. officers were dispatched to the Vans store in the 300 block of King Street for an armed robbery that just occurred. The suspect reportedly entered the store, brandished a knife and demanded money. The employees refused and he stole several pieces of merchandise before fleeing on foot.
Within three minutes, officers located the armed suspect and arrested him after a brief foot pursuit. The suspect, Nicolas Patrick Jarmy Crowley (23, of Mount Pleasant), is charged with armed robbery and possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime.
Crowley is in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
