Charleston Police Announce Arrest in Downtown Stabbing Incident

 

Charleston, S.C. - The Charleston Police Department announced that an arrest has been made in the investigation of a stabbing incident that occurred in the 400 block of Meeting Street on July 20, 2023, at 11:45 a.m.

 

CPD officers charged the defendant, Martin Levonne Frasier, 54, of Charleston, after the investigation revealed that he physically attacked a female acquaintance after a brief argument. The investigation revealed that the female acted in self-defense.

 

The defendant was transported to an area hospital for minor injuries. He was released from care shortly afterward and subsequently taken into custody and charged with Assault & Battery 3rd degree. He was lodged at the Al Cannon Detention Center and will have a bond hearing today, July 21, at 2 p.m.
