
Charleston Police Announce Arrest in West Ashley Shooting
Charleston, S.C. - The Charleston Police Department announced that an arrest has been made in the investigation of a shooting incident that occurred at the Palmilla Apartments on July 19, 2023, at approximately 8 a.m., which left one individual injured.
Today, July 20, 2023, CPD officers took 46-year-old Latoya Fuller of Charleston into custody. Fuller is now facing charges of Attempted Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Violent Crime. Fuller is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center. A bond hearing is scheduled for today, July 20, at 7 p.m.
CPD officers responded to the area of 1385 Ashley River Road after a 911 call was received from a local business. The caller reported that someone had been shot inside the Palmilla Apartment complex. In addition, officers received another 911 call indicating shots were being fired within the complex. Upon arrival, CPD officers located the victim and promptly arranged medical assistance. The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment after sustaining a non-life-threatening injury. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined the victim and Fuller were acquainted.
