Charleston Police Investigating Shooting That Injured Two Juveniles, One Adult
Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Police are investigating a shooting that left a four-year-old girl, a seventeen-year-old boy, and a woman injured by gunfire on April 16, 2023, inside an apartment on Dogwood Road in West Ashley.
Charleston Police officers responded to the apartment complex at 10:40 p.m. in reference to a shooting. When they arrived, the officers located the three victims inside all suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. EMS was summoned and transported all three victims to a local hospital.
Detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the location, where they conducted interviews and processed the scene.
Detectives have determined that the suspect arrived at the apartment, and an argument ensued between the suspect and a resident. At some point, the suspect produced a gun and fired into the apartment multiple times before running away.
Charleston Police Deputy Chief Dustin Thompson said, “While I’m thankful that the injuries in this case appear not to have been life-threatening, this type of violence is unacceptable. We must work together to bring change so that we can keep criminals from victimizing our community, especially our children.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the on-duty CPD central detective at (843) 720-2422. Anyone with information who wishes to remain anonymous is asked to contact Lowcountry Crime Stoppers at (843) 554-1111.
