
Charleston Police Sweep SC Department of Public Safety DUI Enforcement Awards
Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Police received top honors at the South Carolina Department of Public Safety ceremony recognizing achievements in 2022 Driving Under the Influence Enforcement.
Wayne The ceremony, held Wednesday, March 29, recognizes law enforcement agencies and officers for achievements in DUI enforcement during the 2022 calendar year. Charleston Police received awards in all eligible categories.
Charleston Police won awards as follows:
• Agency of the Year (five categories based on the size of the agency): o 101 or more officers: Charleston Police Department
• Rookie of the Year: o Police Officer Shonnah McCauley, Charleston Police Department, 30 DUI arrests
• Officer of the Year (five categories based on the size of the agency): o 101 or more officers: Officer Zachariah Azari, Charleston Police Department, 110 DUI arrests
In addition to those awards, several Charleston Police Officers were recipients of DUI Hero Lapel Pins.

Charleston Police Chief Luther Reynolds said, “These officers lead and make a big difference. They are saving lives every day - reducing alcohol-related fatalities, reducing collisions, and making our city safer.
