2024 Volunteer Event Schedule:
January:
January 6th (9:00AM - 11:00AM) Main Road Litter Sweep
Keep Charleston Beautiful will be hosting a cleanup along Main Road on Johns Island Saturday, January 6th, from 9-11am. Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of Berkeley Electric Cooperative (1135 Main Road). All cleanup supplies will be provided for volunteers, but please wear clothing/shoes that can accommodate tall grass and ditches. This is a busy highway, with no sidewalks, so we are recommending this be an adult only cleanup. If you plan to bring younger children, we will be sending you to an adjacent residential neighborhood to clean. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
January 15th (3:00PM-5:00PM) MLK Day of Service Afternoon Litter Sweep
Keep Charleston Beautiful is hosting our MLK Day of Service event on January 15th from 3:00pm to 5pm. This event is open to all interested volunteers, and cleanup supplies will be provided. Stay tuned for the location and our signup link.
January 26th (4:30PM-5:30PM) Clara's Kids Club Youth Litter Sweep
Youth and families are invited to Clara's Kids Club Youth Litter Sweep, taking place at Mary Utsey Park (1350 Orange Grove Rd) from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. All ages are welcome and supplies will be provided. Our young stewards will help us hunt for litter and are provided with Bingo sheet to complete during the cleanup. Clean City Clara, our pelican mascot, will also make an appearance during the event to celebrate the efforts of our little helpers! Minimum of 8 volunteers required for this event, so please RSVP if you plan on attending, and be sure to invite your friends and neighbors.
January 27th (8:30AM-10:30AM) City of Charleston's Operation Neighborhood Event
Join City of Charleston staff and neighborhood volunteers for Operation Neighborhood, taking place on January 27th from 8:30am to 10:30am. Each quarter, the City selects a neighborhood to be the host of the event. Multiple City Departments join forces to help cleanup litter, clear storm drains, cut back vegetative overgrowth, remove graffiti and illegal decals, educate residents about fire safety, and create necessary work orders for important repairs. The Neighborhood location for January has not been selected as of yet. Stay tuned for the location and our signup link.
