Education program

Acting as a sister program to Keep Charleston Beautiful’s Clean City Clara elementary school program, "Talking Trash" is an environmental education program designed for middle school audiences. Incorporating current middle school science standards, the program focuses on proper waste management, stormwater drainage, marine debris and its impacts on the marine environment, and most importantly, constructive actions students can take to help create a cleaner, more beautiful Charleston.

Adapting the Program

The Talking Trash program includes interactive activities and is also highly adaptable. Teachers are given a variety of different subject options, and can sculpt the direction or focus of the program best suited for the class. The program is offered free of charge to middle schools in Charleston.
