The Department of Traffic and Transportation reviews requests for and issues the following permits:
Street Blocking Permit – Issued for temporary blocking or closure of public streets and parking. Issued to contractors, developers, and for special events only when closures are absolutely necessary and when all other options have been considered. A traffic control plan is required for review by the Department.
Dumpster Permit – Issued for temporary placement of dumpsters or mobile storage containers within the public rights-of-way. Dumpsters will only be permitted for placement in legal parking spaces. Issued to contractors, developers, general public, and for special events only when necessary and all other options have been considered.
Meter Bag Permit and Meter Bags - Issued for temporary use of public metered parking spaces. Issued to contractors, developers, and for special events only when necessary and all other options have been considered. A building permit is required for issuance of permit. The number of meter bags issued will not exceed two parking spaces unless special circumstances require additional spaces to be permitted. The bag must be returned in good condition with the lock and key attached on the date and time indicated on the permit in order to receive a full refund of the deposit. If a refund is granted, it will be mailed to the address indicated on the permit.
Construction Parking – Issued for temporary construction parking within non-metered parking areas within the public rights-of-way. The Purpose of a Construction Parking Permit is to allow contractors to park at or in close proximity of the job site where work is occurring. Construction Parking Permits are only issued for residential parking areas. A building permit is required for issuance of permit. Issued to contractors and for special events only when necessary and all other options have been considered. If your job site is in a Residential Neighborhood, one parking permit will be issued for the vehicle that brings in the tools or supplies only. The permit will only be valid for the vehicle whose license number appears on the permit. All other contactor vehicles will have to abide by the residential parking signs for that district. Contractors are encouraged to car pool to the job site or make arrangements for off-street parking.
Moving Permit – Issued for temporary access to specific locations and for moving items into or out of specific locations. Issued to contractors, developers, moving companies, general public, and for special events only when necessary and all other options have been considered.
