The Charleston Police Department's Citizen Academy is an enlightening 8-week program, where community members are invited to participate in a weekly 2-hour class aimed at deepening their understanding of police policies and practices. This unique educational series is led by a diverse group of commanders and officers from various divisions within the Charleston Police Department (CPD), to include the Chief of Police. 

Interested individuals, or those who know someone who might be, are encouraged to reach out to our Community Outreach Office. No background checks will be initiated until we have made contact through a confirmation email or phone call to further discuss your participation.
