In partnership with the Trident Area Agency on Aging and Louis Waring, Jr. Senior Center, the city of Charleston Mayor’s Office on Aging will host the 2019 Senior Information Summit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at the Waring Senior Center, located at 2001 Henry Tecklenburg Drive.
The summit will showcase information and resources on a range of topics, including estate planning, Medicare and supplemental insurance, non-medical homecare, public and emergency assistance, as well as legal services. The event will also include workshops to address questions about health, wellness, safety and financial issues impacting Charleston’s aging population. This year’s Summit will also feature an educational activity, presented by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, that will provide information on fraud and helpful tips on avoiding scams.
“So far this year, the Mayor’s Office on Aging has responded to more than 700 requests from seniors and their families and caregivers for information on a wide-range of age-related issues, services and resources,” said City of Charleston Senior Services Coordinator Jamie Roper. “Our goal for this year’s Summit is to empower our attendees, while providing a one-stop opportunity to access the vital resources and information that will benefit them the most. Last year’s event welcomed nearly 300 attendees and we hope to see even more this year in our larger event space.”
This event is free and open to the public. To register, call 843-402-CARE (2273).
