City of Charleston News Flash Posted on January 22, 2025

Due to icy conditions on roadways, City of Charleston offices will remain closed on Thursday, January 23, 2025. City officials are working closely with regional partners to ensure that roadways are made safe for travel as quickly as possible. The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be sending an additional 14 crews to the Charleston area to assist with road clearing efforts.

An update on other city services will be provided later today.

Stay Off the Roads: City officials are urging residents to stay off the roads for their own safety as well as the safety of first responders. Barricades have been placed across the city to allow snow plows to continue their work. Residents are asked to adhere to barricades and road closures to ensure the safety of everyone during these hazardous conditions.

Bridge Closures: Ashley River Bridges and Ravenel Bridge remain closed while crews work to clear lanes. Residents can monitor up-to-date bridge closures and openings at this link

The City of Charleston continues to monitor conditions and will provide additional updates as needed. We encourage residents to stay safe, follow all road closures, and limit unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
