The City of Charleston will introduce a new and updated website tomorrow, May 1. Using the same address as the previous website, www.charleston-sc.gov, the new website is designed to leverage the qualities of the City while communicating relevant, timely information to a wide variety of constituents, locally and worldwide.
Designed to be more user friendly, there are enhanced navigational tools which include a dynamic search feature. The new site is equipped to assist those with physical impairments and also features a foreign language translation tool.
Another new feature will allow citizens to receive email and/or text notifications for a variety of topics, including emergency notifications. The Bidline module offers businesses easy access to new projects ready for bid as well as keeping citizens up to date on new projects. Transparency is also a primary goal with budget, check registry and salary information included.
Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. said, “Providing the best possible customer service is our primary goal. The new website provides great, easy to find information to our citizens. The new website is another layer of customer service which will provide rapid communication about a service request and ensure that our citizens receive the most efficient and timely service.”
Coupled with a calendar of city events and meetings, users can easily see what is happening in the city in a short amount of time. The logically categorized menus allow citizens to find information easily and allow for faster information retrieval. www.charleston-sc.gov couples a visually impressive, intuitive web page, with new features and design layouts. The site features upgraded social media connectivity, which includes the recently launched Pinterest page. The city is offering the website as a complete and fully functioning source for city information.
