Beginning Tuesday, March 19, the City of Charleston Permit Center located at 2 George Street will be closed from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. every third Tuesday of each month for staff training and workshops to improve permit center operations and experiences for both staff and customers.
The city’s online
Citizen Access Portal (CAP), which allows users to apply for building permits and short-term rental permits, submit building plans and documents, schedule inspections, access approved plans and permits, manage invoices and payments, renew business licenses and more, will remain available during those hours.
City of Charleston Chief Innovation Officer Tracy McKee said, “We believe that providing this opportunity for cross-departmental training and collaboration will improve the level of service that citizens receive in the City’s permit center.”
