Posted on: December 1, 2018[ARCHIVED] City of Charleston Holiday Parade Postponed Due to Weather
In consultation with the National Weather Service and city Emergency Management officials, the City of Charleston has postponed tomorrow’s Holiday Parade. This decision was made in response to current NWS forecasts calling for severe weather conditions, including the possibility of hail, tornadoes and damaging winds in the city tomorrow afternoon.
The parade has been rescheduled for Sunday, December 16th. Details regarding the parade route and parking will be announced next week.
As of now, the city Tree Lighting ceremony, currently scheduled for tomorrow between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., has not been postponed. A final decision with regard to this event will be made as conditions evolve throughout the night and into the morning.
In addition, tomorrow’s Holiday Farmers Market hours have been curtailed. The Farmers Market will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., as weather permits.
Residential parking restrictions that were in place on Broad Street for tomorrow’s parade have been lifted.
