[ARCHIVED] City of Charleston Parking Study Moving Forward

The city of Charleston Department of Traffic and Transportation is conducting a study to update its parking system for the first time in 20 years. The study will examine current and future parking trends for residents, businesses, employees and visitors in the city of Charleston and develop a series of appropriate parking and mobility management recommendations.

Over the next 10 months, the study team will collect and analyze data, assess current parking management operations, and solicit public feedback through surveys and public meetings.

Residents and workers are invited to participate in an online survey to help the study team gain an understanding of local commuting trends as they relate to parking and mobility needs and experiences.

“This is the first time in 20 years that the city has had the opportunity to take a comprehensive look at parking as a tool to mitigate traffic congestion and improve infrastructure,” said city of Charleston Director of Traffic and Transportation Keith Benjamin. “We look forward to engaging the public throughout this process to help us enhance livability for all residents and workers in the city of Charleston.”
