The City of Charleston will have a public meeting regarding the Late Night Bar and Restaurant ordinance on Thursday, July 17 at 5:30 pm in the auditorium at the Charleston Museum at 360 Meeting Street. This ordinance requires that any new restaurant, bar or convenience store close by 12:00 Midnight in designated areas of the Peninsula, along King Street, the Market Area and Meeting Street.
The purpose of this public meeting is to solicit citizen comment and suggestions on the proposed ordinance. Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. and City Planning Director Tim Keane will present the background and facts and technical aspects of the ordinance. After the presentation there will be a period for citizen participation.
The proposed ordinance will also be going to the Planning Commission on August 20, 2014 for a public hearing and recommendations for City Council. Time and location will be announced.
