[ARCHIVED] City of Charleston to Host AmeriCorps VISTA Virtual Information Session for 2022 Site Selection

The city of Charleston will host a Virtual Information Session for the 2022 AmeriCorps VISTA Site Selection Process to provide an overview of the program, and review related regulations and site requirements for organizations interested in hosting a VISTA service member. The Information Session will be held on Monday, January 10 at 3 p.m. via Zoom.

Why it matters: AmeriCorps VISTA is the national service program of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), designed specifically to fight poverty.

The program supports local efforts by engaging VISTA members in one year of full-time service with a local organization where they help to build capacity and sustainability in order to serve the organization’s clients and community members more effectively.

How to attend: To register to attend the upcoming Virtual Information Session, please email Mindy Sturm at sturmm@charleston-sc.gov. Once registered, participants will receive a Zoom link to attend the meeting.

Representatives of organizations planning to apply are strongly encouraged to attend.

Application information: The application documents required to serve as a 2022 VISTA host site are linked below and must be submitted by Friday, January 21, 2022 at 3 p.m.

Applications can be submitted electronically to sturmm@charleston-sc.gov (preferred), or either hand-delivered or mailed to 75 Calhoun Street, Suite 3700 (must be received by the deadline).

Learn more: For more information, please contact Mindy Sturm at sturmm@charleston-sc.gov or visit https://americorps.gov/partner/how-it-works/americorps-vista.
