Charleston Police Charge Driver in Golf Course Vandalism

On January 12, 2026, officers responded to the Shadowmoss Golf and Country Club in West Ashley following a report of vandalism to multiple holes on the course. Club managers reported that a suspect driving a pickup truck entered the course after hours and caused extensive damage to several fairways and greens by doing “donuts.”

The damage is estimated at approximately $40,000.

Following an investigation, detectives identified the driver as Gavin Alsbrook Cole (19, of Ravenel). Cole was arrested on January 20, 2026, and is charged with malicious injury to real property valued at $10,000 or more. He is currently in custody at the Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
