The 54th annual MLK Parade will take place this Monday, January 19 in downtown Charleston. The parade setup will begin near Burke High School at 6:00 a.m. which will result in the early closing of Fishburne Street near Hagood Avenue. The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will proceed east on Fishburne Street, north on Ashley Avenue, east on Sumter Street, south on King Street, east on Calhoun Street, and will end on Calhoun Street near Elizabeth Street.
The route is expected to reopen by 1:00 p.m.
Vehicle access to several businesses and residences will be limited during the parade. Officers will be stationed along the route to assist with traffic flow and neighborhood access.
