Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program is a Federal program administered by Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) dedicated to the housing needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. HOPWA provides assistance and supportive services to prevent homelessness for income eligible persons with HIV/ AIDS and their families.
The Department has been a recipient of HOPWA funding for over a decade. Through the use of HOPWA funds the Department is able support the programs of our project sponsors, Lowcountry AIDS Services and more recently Roper St. Francis Foundation Ryan White Program. Through the direct services provided by our project sponsors low- and moderate- income persons with HIV/AIDS and their families are able to receive:
- Additional Supportive Services
- Case Management
- Permanent Housing Placement Assistance
- Short-term Rent Mortgage and Utility Assistance
- Tenant Based Rental Assistance
