The Charleston Police Department has arrested two individuals in connection with the armed robbery of a landscaping worker on Daniel Island.
On April 16, 2025, at around 9:15 a.m. officers responded to a reported robbery on Oak Leaf Street. The victim, a member of a landscaping crew, was approached by a masked suspect who demanded their wallet at knifepoint. During the struggle for the wallet, the victim sustained a laceration before the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.
Following an investigation, police arrested Damone Gene Sheppard, 24, of North Charleston. He has been charged with:
- Attempted Armed Robbery
- Assault and Battery (1st Degree)
- Possession of a Knife During the Commission of a Violent Crime
Detectives determined that Sheppard was employed by the same landscaping company at the time of the incident.
The vehicle’s driver, Keyausiane Kristen Gough-Beaufort, 25, also of North Charleston, was arrested and charged with:
- Attempted Armed Robbery
- Assault and Battery (1st Degree)
Both suspects are currently being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center.
