The Charleston Police Department has arrested Antroy Xavier Choice (20, of North Charleston) in connection with a series of car break-ins and motor vehicle thefts that occurred in downtown Charleston.
The incidents began on November 26, 2024, when Choice reportedly broke into a vehicle in a parking garage on Calhoun Street. The following day, on November 27, he stole a car parked on Church Street. Detectives linked him to another car theft on King Street on December 9, followed by the theft of a vehicle on Cumberland Street on December 16. All three stolen vehicles were later recovered in North Charleston.
After identifying Choice as a suspect, detectives used GPS data from his ankle monitor to connect him to additional thefts in the area. He is charged with three counts of grand larceny and two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle. Choice is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
The series of thefts serves as a reminder that vehicles are not secure storage spaces for valuables. Please lock your doors, take your keys with you, look out for your neighbors and report suspicious activity.
