Charleston, SC – The Charleston Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting on Savannah Highway.
On October 3, 2024, shortly after 8:30 p.m., Charleston Police officers responded to a report of a shooting in the northbound lanes of Savannah Highway near the intersection of Bees Ferry Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a work van near the side of the road. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the van, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
The identity of the victim will be released by the Charleston County Coroner’s Office at the appropriate time.
The northbound lanes of Savannah Highway were temporarily closed as detectives and crime scene investigators processed the scene and collected evidence.
At this time, no arrests have been made, and there is no indication of any ongoing threat to the public.
