West Ashley House Fire Being Investigated as a Homicide

The Charleston Police Department responded to a house fire in the 1600 block of Seabago Drive in West Ashley that resulted in two fatalities. 

On September 8, 2024, shortly after 10:00 a.m., officers responded to reports of a house fire on Seabago Drive. Firefighters from the Charleston Fire Department and Saint Andrews Fire Department initiated rescue efforts and extinguished the fire. 

 Detectives determined that the fire was intentionally set by the suspect, an adult resident, who was found deceased at the scene. The victim, also an adult and a relative of the suspect was transported to the hospital but later died from their injuries.

 No one else was believed to be inside the residence at the time of the fire. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the names of both deceased individuals when appropriate.
