Charleston Police Department detectives executed two search warrants this week at a residence on Congress Street near Senate Street and a second residence on Simons Street near King Street. The warrants were part of a multi-week investigation led by the Special Investigations Unit into illegal drug activity in the area.
During the operation, officers recovered illegal drugs and a firearm.
As a result of the investigation, Jermaine Sammy Milligan (42, of Charleston) is charged with:
· Trafficking cocaine base (10–28 grams)
· Possession with intent to distribute cocaine
Additionally, Deangelo Montez Simmons (38, of Charleston) is charged with:
· Trafficking cocaine (>400 grams)
· Trafficking cocaine base (28–100 grams)
· Trafficking fentanyl
· Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
· Three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime
Both individuals were transported to the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Chief Chito Walker said, "I have said it many times and I stand by it. Drugs and the violence that accompanies them have no place in our community. This investigation reflects what we can accomplish when residents speak up and our officers remain committed to the work."
