The Charleston Police Department is proud to welcome two new mounts to our Mounted Patrol Unit and we are inviting the community to be part of their story.
Before these four-hooved mounts can officially join the ranks, they need names. That’s where YOU come in.
We are asking the public to vote on their favorite name for the mounts!
Mount #1
- Vince – A creative nod to Vincent van Gogh, inspired by this mount’s unique ear notch
OR
- Rucker – A tribute to a generous local supporter and Charleston’s own Darius Rucker
Mount #2
- Joe – Like a “cup-of-Joe,” a fun reference to this mount’s rich coloring
OR
- Riley – Honoring a family name of a generous supporter, and a nod to long-time Charleston Mayor Joe Riley
