2. Grievance Procedure Policy
   The ADA requires that each public entity employing more than fifty people maintain a method for the public to file ADA-related grievances. Under the current practice, members of the public may submit complaints regarding access or alleged discrimination by filling out the form below.
   
   The Coordinator will then:
   
   (1) Meet with the complainant as necessary to discuss the complaint;
   
   (2) Maintain written records of the complaint and all actions taken;
   
   (3) Investigate every complaint and consult with City departments, experts in the field, and/or the City Attorney’s office, as appropriate;
   
   (4) Reply to all complaints within fifteen business days of the receipt of the complaint.
   
   If the ADA Coordinator is unable to resolve the complaint to the satisfaction of the complainant, the complainant may submit a complaint to the Mayor. The Coordinator will brief the Mayor on the previous work resulting from the complaint, and the Mayor may take any appropriate action to respond to the complaint. The Mayor’s decision will be communicated to the complainant in writing within thirty business days of receipt by the Mayor’s office. The Mayor is the final decision authority with respect to ADA compliance in the City of Charleston. The ADA Coordinator will assist the Mayor in keeping records on ADA-related complaints.
