The city of Charleston, in partnership with the Charleston Symphony and Charleston Riverdogs, will host a free-to-attend Independence Day Weekend concert at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 30, 2023, at "The Joe." This family-friendly musical event will feature a blend of patriotic melodies and classical favorites.

The Charleston Symphony will be joined by the talented special guest artist, Javetta Campbell. Following the concert, attendees will be treated to a fireworks display, generously supported by The Charleston Place.

Mayor John Tecklenburg said, “We are all looking forward to this extraordinary evening of music, fireworks and family fun. We hope everyone will be able to join us for this great Independence Day celebration.”

Charleston Symphony will showcase a selection of patriotic music by John Stafford Smith, Sousa, a salute to the armed forces and pops favorites by renowned composers such as Tchaikovsky. Additionally, Javetta Campbell will perform popular songs and Broadway showtunes, and Mayor Tecklenburg will narrate Lincoln Portrait by Aaron Copland.

The event is open to the public and free to attend. Due to limited seating capacity, tickets must be reserved in advance to secure a spot.
