The Charleston Police Department is investigating a fatality between a pedestrian and an Amtrak train which took place on November 16, 2024, at 5:25 a.m. on the railway near Highway 61 and Bees Ferry Rd.
During the course of the preliminary investigation, it was determined that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the tracks when they were struck by the train. There have been no reported injuries of any passengers. The incident remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time. There are no impacts to vehicular traffic in the area. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased.
