The Charleston City Plan is the current comprehensive plan for the City of Charleston. From its adoption by City Council in 2021, this plan will guide the growth of areas within the City of Charleston over the next 10 years.
The City of Charleston's Department of Planning, Preservation, and Sustainability recently completed a special area master plan for the Calhoun Street-East/Cooper River Waterfront Area of the City.
In 2003 the City worked with residents and other stakeholders on a plan for the Charleston Neck area. Using this plan as a guide, the developers of Magnolia created a conceptual development plan.
In Fall 2016 The City of Charleston and Charleston County approved the DuPont/Wappoo Community Plan, amendments to zoning and land development regulations ordinances and zoning district changes for the Dupont Wappoo Area of West Ashley.
In 1997, the City of Charleston held a workshop for residents, businesses, and institutions in the area along Spring and Cannon Streets, which resulted in the Spring Cannon Corridor Plan that was adopted by City Council in 1998.
