Charleston, SC – The Charleston Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred Tuesday evening on Ashley Avenue near Race Street.
Officers responded a shooting at approximately 6:45 p.m. and found a 17-year-old victim deceased at the scene. The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim when appropriate.
Early information indicates the parties involved were known to one another. There is no indication this was a random act. Detectives also executed a search warrant at a residence on Race Street as part of their investigation. This was one component of a broader effort to gather evidence, and no additional details are available while detectives continue their work.
At this time, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide and the investigation remains active.
