It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of retired CPD K9 Hektor. K9 Hektor, alongside his partner Master Police Officer (MPO) Hall, served the citizens of Charleston for seven years before retiring in 2022.
During his career K9 Hektor and MPO Hall assisted the department and helped keep the community safe through drug seizures, tracking wanted and often violent criminals and providing safety to officers with over 1,200 deployments. In addition to being a valuable resource to our patrol officers, he worked alongside the CPD SWAT team, Major Warrants Unit, and U.S. Marshals Task Force.
K9 Hektor modeled loyalty, dedication, and an amazing work ethic, while also being a friend, companion, and an adored member of MPO Hall’s family. In retirement, K9 Hektor enjoyed lazy days around the house and family trips to the mountains.
We are grateful to K9 Hektor for his service, and the Hall family for embracing and caring for him through his retirement. He will be deeply missed.
