Workers Operate the Tunnel Boring Machine

Workers operate the tunnel boring machine (TBM) 140 ft below Market Street. The TBM digs through the face of the marl and conveys the material to the back of the machine onto railroad cars while workers install the metal ribs and wooden lagging.
