The City of Charleston Department of Housing and Community Development is now accepting applications for federal housing and community development funding for the 2026–2027 program year.
Funding is available through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the following programs:
- Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
- HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME)
- Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA)
The City anticipates receiving approximately $935,000 in CDBG funds, $530,000 in HOME funds, and $1.2 million in HOPWA funds for the program year, which runs from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027. Funds will support eligible projects that align with the City’s 2025–2029 Consolidated Plan.
Requests for CDBG or HOME funding may not exceed $50,000. Eligible organizations may apply for funding through one or more programs based on the purpose of the proposed project.
Applications must be submitted through the City’s Neighborly Software portal and will be accepted through January 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. Late submissions will not be accepted.
