[ARCHIVED] Dupont|Wappoo Area Planning Charrette

The City of Charleston and Charleston County Planning Departments are co-hosting the Dupont|Wappoo Area Planning Charrette June 9-11 and June 23 at the St. Andrews Middle School, 721 Wappoo Rd. The public planning workshop will focus on creating a neighborhood plan for the vicinity of Dupont Road, Wappoo Road and Savannah Highway (map of area below) that is cohesive with the greater West Ashley area. Planners, designers and consultants on the charrette team will ask community members for input on land use, multi-modal transportation improvements, and drainage, as well as design and development standards.

Tuesday, June 9, at 6 p.m. there will be a community kick-off meeting in the school auditorium that will include a brief presentation and opportunity for the public to share ideas and concerns regarding the Dupont|Wappoo Area. Open houses will be held on Wednesday June 10 and Thursday June 11 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. in the school multi-purpose room #119, at which time the public is invited to drop in, share ideas and see the planning work in progress. On Tuesday, June 23, at 6 p.m. a wrap-up meeting will be held in the school auditorium, where the results of the charrette will be presented along with planning recommendations and next steps.
