The City of Charleston celebrates the holiday season this December with Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston, offering FREE, family-friendly activities, performances and decorations that capture the spirit of the season for everyone in the community.
Schedule of Festivities:
Saturday, December 6th Kickoff the holiday season at the opening of the Holiday Market from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Marion Square followed by the Official Tree Lighting Ceremony at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., also in Marion Square.
Sunday, December 7th Watch the 34th Annual City of Charleston Holiday Parade. The parade is from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and begins at Colonial Lake, proceeds up Broad Street, down King Street, concluding at Marion Square.
Friday, December 12th & 19th Join the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in Marion Square, visit with Santa and Ms. Claus, enjoy live entertainment provided by community groups and enjoy the decorations and fun activities.
Saturday, December 13th Head to the waterfront of the Charleston Harbor for the Holiday Parade of Boats at 5:30 p.m. and enjoy a variety of boats adorned with lights and decorations.
Sunday, December 21st following the last Holiday Market, you can enjoy Chanukah in the Square from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Enjoy free food and live entertainment.
Friday, December 26th Join the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs in Marion Square for the lighting of the first candle of the Kwanzaa Kinari.
Wednesday, December 31st Ring in the New Year at Happy New Year, Charleston! At Marion Square from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Happy New Year Charleston! is an admission-free, non-alcoholic, family-friendly celebration of the arts.
Parking Vouchers valid December 1 – January 1
Download and print the Parking Voucher and redeem at participating City of Charleston and Charleston County parking garages, for up to 2 hours of free parking courtesy of the City, County and ABM Parking Services. Can also be applied towards the cost of flat-rate event parking fee.
