City of Charleston Recreation Department Announces 2023 Huck Finn Fishing Festival

The city of Charleston Department of Recreation, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, will host its annual Huck Finn Fishing Festival at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Colonial Lake.

The catch-and-release event, presented by Free Fly Apparel, is open to kids ages 4 through 12 and costs $5 to participate. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Bait will be provided to participants, while supplies last. Additionally, each participant will receive a complimentary Free Fly t-shirt. 

Following the fishing tournament, a festival will be held in Moultrie Park, directly next to Colonial Lake, featuring games and activities, food trucks, top area fishing vendors, and more.

Tournament winners will be announced at 12:30 p.m. at Moultrie Park. Prizes include trophies and a Free Fly Apparel gift card.

Space is limited to 250 participants. Registration can be completed in-person at any city recreation facility or online using activity #482010.
