
Charleston Police Announce Arrest in Fatal February Auto-Pedestrian Collision
Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Police announced an arrest in a fatal auto-pedestrian collision that occurred on Savannah Highway in February 2023.
Angelyna Cora-Coleman, 19, of Charleston, turned herself into the Charleston Police this morning, May 11, 2023. She is charged with one count of reckless vehicular homicide.
Cora-Coleman was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center and appeared for a bond hearing today, May 11, at 10 a.m.
On February 19, 2023, at 9:40 p.m., Charleston Police responded to a collision involving a pedestrian on Savannah Highway near Magnolia Road. A car was traveling southbound on Savannah Highway when it hit a pedestrian attempting to cross the road. The car then struck a tree and overturned. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Charleston Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded and processed the scene. They continued the investigation, which determined speed played a significant role in the collision and led to charging Cora-Coleman.
