
Charleston Police Announce Arrest in March 2 Homicide
Charleston, S.C. - Charleston Police announced an arrest in a shooting that left 32-year-old Adan Obed Aguilar-Suarez dead at The Jaunt apartment complex on March 2, 2023.
Dyvonte Ontario Collins, 26, of Charleston, was taken into custody yesterday, March 6, by CPD officers and US Marshals Task Force Officers with the assistance of Goose Creek Police officers. He is charged with one count of Murder and one count of Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
Collins is being held in the Al Cannon Detention Center and is scheduled to have a bond hearing today, March 7, 2023, at 2 p.m.
On March 2, 2023, at 7:31 p.m., Charleston Police officers responded to 1840 Carriage Lane, The Jaunt apartments, in reference to a shooting. When the officers arrived, they located Aguilar-Suarez suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Charleston County EMS and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene.
Ensuing investigation by Charleston Police detectives led to identifying Collins as the shooting suspect.
