City of Charleston Closing Recreation Centers at 5 p.m. Tuesday, BZA Meeting Canceled

Due to the latest enhanced risk of severe weather from the National Weather Service for Tuesday evening – including a chance of damaging winds exceeding 60-plus mph, a low-end threat of isolated tornadoes and brief, heavy rainfall – the city will close its recreation centers at 5 p.m. today.

Additionally, the Board of Zoning Appeals meeting scheduled for 5:15 p.m. is canceled.

City of Charleston Emergency Management Director Shannon Scaff said: “We are monitoring the enhanced risk of severe weather Tuesday evening. We encourage citizens to avoid driving during periods of intense weather, if possible, and use caution if you must travel.”
