Public Notice: Applications Available for Round II City of Charleston CDBG CARES ACT Funds
The City of Charleston has released $180,000 in CDBG CARES Act (CDBG-CV) funding to provide nonprofit organizations funds to assist City of Charleston residents affected by COVID-19. Funds can be used to assist households in the City of Charleston with rental, mortgage and utility assistance and nonprofit organizations providing direct services to households affected by COVID-19.
Organizations may apply for this funding immediately. This serves as the second round of CDBG-CV released to nonprofit organizations from the original allocation of $488,628 to the City from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in April 2020. Organizations interested in obtaining an application may do so by: 1. Contacting the Department of Housing and Community Development at (843) 724-3766 and request an application be sent via email or by; 2. Downloading an application online
Application Submission and Deadline- Applications can be submitted via email, postal service or hand delivered to our department. If applications are hand delivered an appointment is required. Contact 843-724- 3766 to set up an appointment. Applications must be submitted on or before Tuesday November 10, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.
First Round of City of Charleston CDBG CARES Act Funds Awarded
The following organizations have been awarded Community Development Block Grant (CDBG-COVID) and Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA-COVID) CARES Act Funds. Assistance from these organizations can be used to help households in the City of Charleston impacted by COVID-19. Assistance can be provided for rental, mortgage and utility costs. Charleston Pro Bono Legal Services is only providing free legal services for those impacted by COVID-19.
