Overview
The City of Charleston M&WBE office works to ensure the City’s goal that M&WBE firms are accorded a real and equitable opportunity to participate in city procurement of goods/services, supplies and construction in accordance with City ordinances and guidelines.
Committee Role & Purpose
The purpose of the Advisory Committee is to provide recommendations to the Minority Business Enterprise Manager to support the goals and objectives of that office such as development strategies, policies, and operational procedures for the City of Charleston. In addition, the Advisory Committee will work on its own series of objectives, with the purpose of reaching the city’s M&WBE goals.
Committee Structure & Expectations
The Advisory Committee shall meet no less than four times a year. The Advisory Committee will be composed of at least 7 but no more than 11 individuals, representing minority business owners, lenders, government agencies, advocacy organizations, and critical stakeholders that represent the business interests of W/MBEs in the City of Charleston. Committee Members will serve a 2-year term.
