Teen Citizens of the City of Charleston are invited to the 2014 TEEN Citizens’ Training Academy!

Join us and get to know your Police Department better. The primary emphasis will be on informing students about how the Department operates and will also help them prepare for future careers in public safety and emergency services.

The TEEN Citizens' Training Academy participants will learn about police work from Law Enforcement and Public Safety professionals, including Patrol officers, Detectives, Traffic, and special units like SWAT, Bomb Squad and others. They will also have a chance to visit the Consolidated Dispatch Center. On the final night, participants can put themselves in an officer’s shoes in a realistic training simulator.

At the end of the program they will be invited to join either the Police Explorers, Teen CERT Explorers, or Explorer Club (middle-schoolers) based on their interests.

If you have any questions or wish to sign up, please contact Sgt. Shelor in the Crime Prevention office at 769-7407, or e-mail

Space is limited to 40, so sign up soon!
